When Manolo Cadenas became the head coach some changes took place. Raul Alonso, a famous Spanish specialist, became the assistant coach of Meshkov Brest. He spent his entire handball career in Germany. Raul worked as a coach in charge of developing with young handball players in the German Handball Federation from 2006 to 2009.
The most successful step in his career was when he worked as the assistant coach (2010-2014) in the German “Kiel” - one of the greatest European handball clubs. While he was in “Kiel” he became the winner of the German championship 4 times (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014), raised the German Cup 3 times (2012, 2014) and twice held the Super Cup of Germany (2012, 2014). Besides, he has two victories of the EuroCup. Raul Alonso was the winner of the Champions League (2010, 2012)!
It should be mentioned, that he was also the technical director of the youth development center in Kiel for three and a half years. In 2015 Raul Alonso became the main head coach of Sparkasse Schwaz Handball Tirol and achieved the best result in the team, history took having taken the 3rd place in the national championship.
He’s perfect fluent in German and English. Raul Alonso has a good educational background; he is a graduate of the Goethe Institute in Frankfurt. Moreover, Alonso has EHF Master Coach-License (European level).
Important changes took place also in the goalkeepers coaching staff. Rolando Pušnik was appointed to this position.
Pushnik is an experienced player. He played for different teams like HC “Celje”, “Zagreb”, “Crvenka”, “Zeleznicar”, “San Antonio”, he also played for the national team. As part of the national team of Yugoslavia, Pushnik became an Olympic champion (1984), a world champion (1986), and a bronze-medal winner of the Olympic Games (1988). The goalkeeper played in the European and world Championships in for the national team of Slovenia.
After his career as a player, Rolando Pušnik got a degree of a handball coach at the University of Ljubljana. He held different coaching positions – from a goalkeeper coach to the head coach in the women's handball club "Krim "(Slovenia) and he proved a successful coach. From 2005 to 2009 he won the championship and the Cup of Slovenia. In 2009 he reached the semifinal of the Champions League.
From 2004 to 2010, alongside his club career, Rolando Pušnik worked as a goalkeeper coach in the men’s handball national team of Slovenia, as part of the team he won a silver medal of the European championship of (2004) and took part in the Olympic Games
Since 2010, Pušnik has successfully trained goalkeepers of the national and youth teams of Qatar. In that period, juniors took first place in the championship of Asia among the peers.
Ronaldo Besides Slovenian, Pušnik is fluent in Serbian-Croatian language, Spanish, German and English. Pušnik will help keepers of Meshkov Brest to make progress.
We also have a new medical stuff. Benas Blauzdziunas is a new specialist from Lithuania that will take the position of a physiotherapist. He will control the health of sportsmen doing everything possible to make them stay fit.
Since recent times Lithuania has been a leading country in sports medicine. Players from HC Meshkov Brest were successfully operated in Lithuania.
Benas Blauzdziunas graduated from the Lithuanian medical University and studied different post-injury rehabilitation methods of sportsmen. He practiced in Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kauno Klinikos. Blauzdziunas worked as a physiotherapist in at the Kaunas center of kinesiotherapy. He was engaged in the rehabilitation of patients after serious injuries. At the same time, he worked as a conditioning coach of the national Rugby team of Lithuania. Benas Blauzdziunas has experience in handball - in season 2015/2016 he worked in for the club "GRANITAS" (Kaunas).
New specialists are about to join the team in the near future. We hope that Meshkov Brest will benefit from the experience of highly qualified specialists that join the club for the upcoming season.
